Deepavali the tradition 

Lots of festivals lots of cultures, everyone has our own tradition.. What does these festival times convey? What’s the longer effect of such celebrations? It’s not just the day and a formality.. Festive season gives a sense of belongingness, a securedness, a nostalgia too, this applies to all religions, states, countries too.. 
Diwali is one of the major festivals we celebrate. I carry memories of mom making hot bajjis on the D day, sharing sweets and snacks to everyone in neighborhood, new dress, matching matching, the garlic pepper oil bath, the story of no more evil after Diwali..
My husband carries more similar memories with huge relations get together and bursting crackers, friends snacks-hopping to everyone’s home to taste home made snacks… 
It’s lovely to recall the childhood and feel our parents passing the tradition to us.. 
We might not be following exactly same but we sure pass across the memory and originality of the culture to our kids.. There are added elements of diya painting and new fun we add.. Kids love to hear narahasura story and they sincerely believe when we say today pray to God and all bad things will vanish 🙂  Once kids grow up, which ever city or country they live, we are sure Deepavali is going to give them a secured and proud smile with sense of belongingness, the Tamilian tradition of celebration… Similarly we love to see our neighbors celebrating in their way and passing on culture to their next generation.. 
For all of us.. Such little festivals are worth celebrating not just for the day or year.. But it is a value we pass on to next generation.. Let’s live, love and celebrate… 😍😇🙏
